Pastor....
Okey Unadike
Okeu Unadike is the new pastor for our Dingle Mount Church. He was born into a Christian home with a family of four brothers and one sister. Okey studied Civil Engineering at University and it was during this time, recalls Okey that “a friend invited me to church and the preacher spoke with such power and conviction that my spirit was convicted of sin and I went forward and accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour”.
After his university education Okey sensed a call to full time Christian ministry. He started pastoral work with a church in Nigeria for 4 years.
Between 2005 and 2008 he studied at the London School of Theology where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theology. During his study, he has done practical placements with the Church of England Balham and New Park Road Baptist Church.
Okey has also worked for a short time as a City Missioner with London City Mission in North London and Greenwich. He says “My desire is to see souls saved and to preach/teach the Gospel passionately as well as discipling converts into full mature Christians”
His hobbies are swimming, reading, football (Arsenal fan), and working with creative computer software.
He is married to Nikky who is now expecting their first child.

....we will give ourselves continually to prayer, and to the ministry of the word.

Dingle Mount Church Evergreens
Evergreens is part of the Dingle Mount Care Ministry.  It is an outreach to the community for people 50 +. It came about as part of our desire to show God’s love to the people of the area around the church so that they may come to Faith in him
We started the lunches over 18 months ago and things have progressed from there. We have taken the elderly and housebound out for Christmas Lunch and gave them gifts.
We meet on the second Thursday every month at 2pm for lunch and fun. Since we started a varied programme has included films, crafts, a talk on genealogy helping people to trace their family tree and a Magic Show with magical food.  Each meeting is themed and in February we had a Valentine’s Day Lunch and each of the ladies was given a red rose. There are photograph shows with tables are set with cloths and runners, flowers and serviettes at each place setting with food carefully prepared and fitting  in with the theme for the day. We have had a card making day in aid of Marie Curie. Easter cards were made which the people took home. Daffodils were placed on each table to remind us of Marie Curie hospices. We have had Great Big Tea Party in our church car park in aid of Marie Curie. We raised £730 for the hospice in Woolton. The Sailor’s Chapel Silver band played at this event and Ian & Elaine Coules brought along their puppets. It was a great success. There was a handmade card stall as well as bric-a-brac and bookstalls. Tea, coffee, cakes and ice cream were also on sale. Most of all it was an opportunity for us to show God’s love to the people of the Dingle area.
At all these events God’s word is shared.
In 2009 we have seen a tremendous growth in “Evergreens” with many more unchurched people from the district joining in the activities. May 09 saw us celebrate the 100th birthday of one of our members, George Cross, the theme on the day was Country Crafts. Maurice Bray brought his collection of stuffed birds and handmade walking sticks. He talked about his hobbies connected to the countryside and made a special walking stick for George which was presented on the day.  The stick was engraved with George's name. It travelled to the D Day celebrations in France with George and was greatly admired by Prince Charles, no less.
We are planning future events such as a Tea Dance and a film about the Overhead Railway which, of course, stared its journey not far from Dingle Mount.

By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.

35 Years of Witness in the Dingle

On Sunday 25th April 2010 we held our 35th anniversary services at Dingle Mount Church. It was a time of reflection on God's goodness to us in the past and his guidance for the future. The dedication stone was laid on 15th January 1974 and the opening service held on Saturday 26th April 1975. The church was declared open by the then President, Mr A.E Proffitt, and the address was given by the Superintendent, Mr David Jebson from Judges chapter 4 verse 14.
Mr Thomas Kemp was the Pastor at the time and he retired in 1976. Peter McGrath was Pastor from 1976 to 1978, followed by Hugh Smith from 1981 to 1986. He was then followed by Jim Campbell who was Pastor from 1987 to 1991. We then had a gap of 8 years without a Pastor until Bob Bogart joined us in 1999. He was with us until 2005,followed by Paul Holloway from 2005 to 2007.
At our anniversary service, we were able to display articles and memorabilia, covering the churches 35 year history. Most items were taken from "Sowing and Reaping" and Voice in the City" magazines. But other items included photographs of the laying of the foundation stone and a copy of the programme for the opening service.
For our anniversary service we were blessed by items from Deep Harmony male voice choir and the address was given by Mr Peter Lawrence from Bethel Church Tuebrook. There was an excellent number in attendance and this gave us an opportunity to introduce our new Pastor. This was a joyous time of celebration and we now look forward to continuing to serve the Lord in the future.
John Boyle from Dingle Mount Church, Dingle writes....
We celebrated our 35TH anniversary on 25th April 2010   .... a great day of thanksgiving.  We can look back and thank the Lord for all His goodness to us over the last 35 years, but we are also looking forward under the guidance of our new pastor Okey Unadike.
We continue to hold our usual Sunday worship services, but other services and meetings are held during the week. We hold a weekly prayer meeting on Monday’s at 7 a.m.  For those who do not have to go to work, cleaning the church becomes their pleasure. Weekly Bible Study and Prayer time are held each Thursday.
Once a month, we hold an informal service for residents at Alfred Stocks sheltered accommodation. Also monthly we have a prayer walk, when 200 “Good News” papers are distributed.
Our “Evergreen” care ministry team, which was featured in the previous issue of “Voice in the City”, is also held monthly.
We are blessed with good attendances at our Kids Club on Friday’s, but numbers attending Mums & Tots are disappointing.
Please continue to pray for our witness in South Liverpool.
