CHARLES THOMPSON’S MISSION

CTM – The Work Continues…

“We continue to praise God for all he is doing at CTM in the many and various activities that take place in our-drop in centre and church,” so says CTM Superintendent Pastor Rob Jeffs. “On a daily basis we meet so many people with all sorts of needs. Many seem to have addiction problems which can lead to homelessness and health problems.” With this in mind CTM has a nurse who calls in once a month and utilises one of the rooms for a medical room.

Pastor Jeffs continues, “At the moment along with the primary care trust we are hoping to equip this room out as a medical room, with a nurse there and also a GP several mornings a week.” This will mean alterations to the buildings at CTM. “Incorporated into this will be the provision of new toilets including a toilet for the disabled,” Says Pastor Jeffs. “The building will require a fire alarm system and possible rewiring. Please pray for us over the financial needs and the timing of this work.”

At present each Friday there are two street workers from the Phoenix Project also coming in to help the homeless with many issues. There is also a councillor who works alongside them to help those people with alcohol problems. On a daily basis many call to see Rob’s assistant Bernie for help with practical needs such as furniture. As well as this on Monday and Friday Bernie organises the giving out of clothes, towels, crockery and cutlery.

“We do thank God for all the volunteers who help us so much,” adds Pastor Jeffs. “We couldn’t cover all the work without them. As much as possible we seek to share the gospel with folks that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners.” He continues, “It’s a real thrill for us as quite often some of these dear folk attend our gospel meeting on a Sunday afternoon. We pray earnestly that God would bring people unto himself that they might “Come to know him whom to know is life eternal.”
