Blaithwiate has been a wonderful “home” for the LCM Summer camp for the past seven years. Centre Managers Mal & Kay have become good friends and always make us feel really welcome. In fact, if it weren’t for the generosity of “The Blathwaite Trust” which contributes nearly half of the funding for the Camp, we would never be able to afford to use the centre at all.

As well as the usual “on site” activities there were adventures to be had which included Gorge Walking and Mountain Biking. “The adventure activities are really popular,” Will continues. “the Young People love them and they usually provide great memories to bring home.” It all started rather differently though as there was a power cut on the first night! “We had food defrosting slowly in the freezers as well as meals to cook!” says Will. “However, the kitchen team did a brilliant job feeding us all with no panic at all! Our first night meeting was turned into an impromptu “Open Air” meeting. God was really kind to us as a lovely warm sun shone down on us – It was all quite memorable. And right on cue, as soon as the meeting finished the power came back on!”

This year there was a last night BarBQ and Bonfire which took place in a very boggy field. “It was great fun though,“ says Will, “We had a good old sing around the fire and had a brilliant time.”

“Mission Impossible?” – LCM Camp 2008

“Is God’s Mission to save the world impossible?” This was the central theme of Camp this year as, on a sunny Saturday morning at the end of July, almost 50 excited young people started out on the journey to Blaithwaite Christian Centre in Cumbria.

“During the week we looked at Jesus’ Mission to save the world from its greatest enemy – sin.” So says Camp Director Will Williams. “It’s great to see the power God’s word has as it is preached faithfully. Many of the young people were touched by what they heard during the week.”
Dates for Camp 2009 - August 1st to 7th
