Jubilee Chapel and the relevance of the rescue work
Jubilee Chapel Centre was built around 1870, and acquired by Liverpool City Mission in 1940. It operated as Head Office and Rescue Centre up until 1997, when the Mission acquired city centre premises for its café and bookshop, at which time the head office relocated to these premises and the Chapel remained in operation as a Rescue Centre.
There is a currently a major Renovation Plan with distinct phases: -

Phase 1 - Renewal of Chapel roof and treatment of dry rot
This has provided the Chapel with a new roof and treated the extensive dry rot problem. These works have now been completed at a cost of £130,000. This phase has been financed from existing funds and specific donations from supporters of the Mission.

Phase 2 – Provision of new lower floor Kitchen and Dining Area
These works have now been completed at a cost of £120,000.

Phase 3 - Provide a new block of male and female toilets including a disabled toilet.
This work has just commenced and should be completed during October 2008.

· The new Kitchen and Dining Room re-opened for business on 1st November 2004 and we thank God for these wonderful new facilities.
· It was “Officially” opened on 26th November by Mrs Jenny Gopsill of the Boulton Trust Generous supporters of the Mission work over many years. Jenny said at the opening “We trust that God will be glorified through the work that goes on here each day”.
