What is your Heritage?

“Who am I?” “Why am I here?” I’m sure you’ve asked yourselves these questions at some point in your life. We are all unique in history. Generally we know when, where, and to whom we were born. These facts help us to establish our earthly heritage. But what is our “spiritual heritage?”
The Bible says…….

The God who made the world and everything in it, being Lord of heaven and earth……… made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth……… that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel their way toward him and find him. Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, for 'In him we live and move and have our being' as even some of your own poets have said, 'For we are indeed his offspring.'   Acts 17 v 24, 26, 27, 28 (E.S.V).

We are all equal in God’s sight as we were all born into one world and were all descendants of one man, Adam. However we are put here on earth that we should seek God and find him.

"Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near” Isaiah 55 v 6 (E.S.V).

This is our prayer for people. As well as giving out material things, like food, clothing and furniture, we aim to present the clear and simple gospel message that “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners 1 Timothy 1 v 15 (E.S.V). The great promise of scripture in respect of this is that…. "everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10 v 13 (E.S.V).

When we have experienced this we can say with assurance along with the Psalmist……

LORD, you alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing. You guard all that is mine. The land you have given me is a pleasant land. What a wonderful inheritance! Psalm 16 v 5, 6 (NLT).

We long to see some of those whom we come into contact with experience this same blessing and to be sure that their heritage (inheritance) is also in Christ.

As the work of LCM continues, we were really encouraged by a very generous gift received just before last Christmas specifically to be used to provide clothing for the homeless and needy who come into our centres in Liverpool. Most of this money was used to buy clothing and sleeping bags which were distributed to street people at our café “Christmas Eve Breakfast”. Some also given out at the Jubilee Chapel Centre. The rest will be used for clothing throughout this year. As we go to press we are about to embark on a new venture at our Jubilee Chapel Centre with the addition of a Friday Luncheon club for the over 50’s in the Kensington area around the Centre. Paul Holloway, our Jubilee Chapel Centre Evangelism Chaplain is to head up these works (see his article on page 6). Please pray that these new initiatives in Kensington bring glory to the Lord and extend His kingdom.
